Liese Creamy Bubble Hair Color on Virgin Hair (Mint Ash)

Why I have my hair colored

It’s CNY around the corner, and normally, it is also time of the year, people will have their hair colored. Prior to these, I have been coloring my hair since after SPM, and there after, it’s years and years of touch up of color. Up till one day, I decided I had enough, expecially I’m battling with hair falls and split ends.

So I decided grow and ombre of virgin and colored (damaged) hair and chop it off. I had virgin black har for 3 years now. But recently, the hair dying thing came back to me, as I didn’t want such deep contrast between my hair and face. I wanted my hair to look a tad lighter. But unfortunately, my saloon does not have dark dark brown hair coloring. I didn’t understand how come, but now I know: because you could have these subtle brown, at home in your covnience. Coloring hair at saloon: RM150 – RM180. Home coloring, RM45 / box. Gosh, I could color my hair 3 times already. So who would wanna pay 3 times more for something you could do at home. Now, I learnt that unless I want like cyan, neon pink hair, only I go to a saloon. Otherwise, if I want some muted colors, I could get it done at home.

Why I choose Liese Creamy Bubble

After carefully looking at reviews online, seemed like Liese bubble hair color is most popular and the convinience it brings as compared to other brands like REVLON / LOREAL, as

  1. The colors are more suited for Asian skin tones
  2. The fact that it is bubbly, makes easier to apply as compared to liquid

Why I choose Mint Ash

Liese Creamy Bubble Hair Color Chart according to Initial Hair Color

There myriad of colors to choose from by Liese, but to be honest, I learnt that the best color should be the ones that is most purchased or most reviewed. So I went with the bandwagon on this color. To be honest, my favorite was Silvery Brown, but Watsons does not have it at the time of purchase, and it was rarely reviewed anyway.

Another reason to this, was that Liese Mint Ash will look brighter as opposed to Silvery Brown. Since my hair is a virgin hair, the silvery brown may not be too obvious on my jet black hair. So off I go with the most popular and also better of the choice

My Verdict

As you can see my face contrast is not as prominent after dying my hair
  1. The whole dying process was simple and instructions were very clear on how to prepare my hair
  2. The results of the color were pretty impressive, I thought the color will only be visible under the sun, but my god I’m wrong. It is quite obvious even indoors
  3. Only thing I wished to do better on my next dye, is to dye my bottom hair first. Then only work on the roots. Seemed like my hair is more prominent on the top than the bottom
  4. True to color: Seemed like the color wasn’t like what I as advertised. It doesn’t have the green shade but turns out to have more like it has red undertones. Yet I’m satisfied with the color
  5. Damage to hair: Yes, my hair did get a little coarser compared to my virgin hair, but I’m thinking to do a keratin treatment after this at a saloon. Also, one advice that I took online is to apply treatment AFTER washing off the dye, THEN only shampoo, THEN another round of CONDITIONING. Perhaps that could’ve lessen the damage too.
  6. Will I purchase again in future? Yes, the budget and results impressed me.

Aunty Potion Facial

Once, a college friend of mine told me theres a face treatment where they apply period blood on face. Because apparently the discarded hormones were good for face. My brain froze for 10secs to comprehend what kinda witchcraft i just heard.

Apparently you can get such treatment in a clinic. It’s called vampire facial, but it is less gory than what she explained.

Fast forward in my thirties, im entering this wizardy shit with face peel. No, i did not slather my face with my aunty’s potion.

What I actually applied on my face was The Ordinary’s AHA facepeel. I felt my skin was slapped a thousand times upon application. Quite potent than Dr. Dennis Gross face peel (normal strength) treatment. Not sure as effective. But will update upon use

Malaysian Winter 2021 Edition

Even Mickey have to wear her PJs and I have a makeshift fireplace for her.

It’s the time of the year again, when Malaysia is hard hit with monsoon season. To me, I enjoy rainy season. It keeps me indoors, and be grateful I have a home that shelter myself from the cold weather outside. On days like this, I could imagine myself holding a hot mug and read a book while in the background playing some jazzy music. But as we know, as the rain went overboard, it could be a disaster for many people.

To be honest, I never experienced this type of Malaysian winter in childhood, as far as I could remember. But, recently in this good 5 years or so, monsoon in Malaysia is getting more and more unpredictable. The town which I resides in, never have flood, suddenly was struck by flood in 2014. Everyone was not prepared for it.

I recently learnt from my yoga instructor, that during flood times, it is likely that some house will be out of electricity. He say, imagine you live in the neighborhood where you cannot access to ATM, charge your phones, or microwave your food, no Food Panda. I can only imagine! Come to think of it, it make sense now, if you have flood and live electricity in the waters, that would be even worse! You will have human Churros laying admist the waters.

But, those were the times, and nowadays, we are better prepared for monsoon season. We will check the weather reports, Facebook page (any roads facing flood), watch out the longkangs so there is no accumulated water, etc.

Weather reads 26C, but it feels like 2Celcius for an average Malaysian

Take for example, I was home late because I was waiting for the rain to subside after badminton, but mom was worried so she advised me to look for roads that is unlikely to be flooded to get home soon. She was right, because had I not heed to her advice, my poor old Volkswagen Beetle would have end up swimming in the roads of Kuantan.

So buck up friends, stay warm like a hotdog, just like Mickey. But, remember to look out at the longkangs if the rain went too hardcore.

Should You Keep in Touch with your Ex

Shanghai Lady with Cigarette, based on the works of Liu Ye

I always have this theory, if you both first started as strangers, then when things end, let’s be stranger again. I see no point of staying in touch or communicate with each other. I would like to come clean for my next relationship, and it would only be fair to others. What’s the point of keeping in touch EVEN you broke off peacefully. The thing is, unless you want to create unnecessary doubt or cast worry to our partner, then go ahead. If that don’t convince you enough, give me example of people who have found happiness in relationship, if they didn’t cut free from their old ties.

Things I wish I knew before my first attempt in Acrylic Pour

As everyone ushering the new year 2021, I’ve been busy painting painting and painting. I’ve made several artworks, but one of the novel one was the acrylic pour. I’ve been seeing alot of the impressionistic and abstract works flowing online.

Also, these organic artworks can be done by any lay people, regardless any way you approach it, it will turns out nice and not too childish on your wall. Just what I looking for to decorate onto my rather empty wall in my newly shifted house.

After watching several acrylic pour tutorials on Youtube and references on Pinterest, I decided to go with the impressionistic seascape view. By Cathy Sik:-

And following the tutorial and some personal research, everything was fine, except here are few tips to add on if you’re also like me on your first time trying acrylic pour:-

  • Preparing your acrylic pour colors:-
    • If you’re like me, using acrylic colors from tube, and blending it out using pouring medium, mix your colors in the cup FIRST to your desired shade, before mixing into the pouring medium. As it will be difficult to blend the colors together once you have the pouring medium.
    • Also, try to make similar consistency for each colors as you do not want one color runs faster than the rest. The consistency for each color should be honey-like.
  • Blowing your acrylic
    • In the tutorial, Cathy blew some of the colors to create waves, but I realize overdoing it can “break” the waves into smaller colors, unless that’s what you going for, go ahead
  • Your final artpiece, is not your final artpiece
    • Although acrylic known to be fast drying medium, because of the thick consistency that was used in the pouring technique, it continues to move around even after you have leave it flat on your counter top. Mine was different from what I initially did in the night before, but well, that’s the beauty of it, let nature take it’s course and surprise you
    • Don’t try to control the outcome too much, since it will continue to run into itself after your leave it dry
    • Also, I added some hair oil to create cells, to my surprise, it didn’t come out immediately after I did my pour but the cells only start to appear the next day. This is amazing. Now I finally understand why some people find acrylic pour so fascinating.

Happy pouring, and I hope this some little information from me will make you less nervous about doing your acrylic pour.
